This is one of the many reasons why I teach elementary school:
The children know about my skydiving adventure. So today one of the smallest kindergarten boys says in his high-pitched voice, "So, what was wrong with the airplane? Was it broken?" I did my best to not laugh...but it was so cute! It makes you think about the basics of life! Kids are so blunt, honest, and simplistic. They are also very logical: 'Ms. D. jumped out of an airplane so something must have been wrong with the airplane!' That is the type of thinking we need amongst the adult society! Simple and logical!

lol. Kristen that is so true. In my martial arts classes I teach, we have a half hour block that is dedicated to toddlers (we consider the "tots" class anywhere from 3 to 6, sometimes 7 depending on the child). In that class, we were going through warm up drills and what not and one the students just stopped diong what he was doing and asked, "Sensei, why are you brown and Sensei Show (his actual last name is Shobe but the students never pronounce the "B") is white like me?" It caught me completely off guard and honestly I didn't know how to respond. But that shows how the kids are always thinking and at times, they may be thinking what adults are thinking but they are the one who express that feeling. Their filters haven't developed (they haven't been affected by society to determine what has been deemed as "politically correct".
I agree with you that things should be simple and logical. I think it applies in all areas of life to some degree:
families, relationships, work, and school.
LOL on the comment your student made. I think that kindergarten students were meant to say the funniest things that make sense in the weirdest way.
You make skydiving look so fearless. I've always wanted to skydive but the idea of jumping out of a plane for fun is scary. Maybe one day I'll have enough courage only because you look like you were having a good time up there.
