What fun!!!!

There are so many things in life that can be enjoyable. I am having so much fun with my life right now! I love my job. Working with those kids is a blast everyday! I am enjoying my 25th birthday week (Nov. 4) by Kayaking, enjoying the waves at the beach and MORE SKYDIVING! I went again this past Sunday. SO much fun! I am loving how this class is making me feel technologically advanced. Check out my Web Site: http://www.msdelemmus.wikispaces.com/

Red Ribbon Week...

This week is Red Ribbon Week at my school. This is our fight against drugs. We wore our favorite team shirt on Monday (Go Gators!), hats today, red tomorrow, mismatch on Thursday, and school colors on Friday. The kids love this kind of stuff...and so do I! I wore a Hurley hat today...a little of to the side...just like me =)! This kind of stuff helps the school come together as a community and a family. The kids are able to relate to their teachers and see a different side of us!

Traveling Around the World with Music....

We have been traveling around the world with music. It have been a fun journey so far. The kids are really enjoying it! Every time I mention the next place we are "traveling" too they get so excited! It is a great motivation for the students as well as a great way to learn about geography and culture! The primary grades just left Japan and the upper grades finished with the Ukraine. The students are now heading to Russia!

Kids say the darndest things....

This is one of the many reasons why I teach elementary school:

The children know about my skydiving adventure. So today one of the smallest kindergarten boys says in his high-pitched voice, "So, what was wrong with the airplane? Was it broken?" I did my best to not laugh...but it was so cute! It makes you think about the basics of life! Kids are so blunt, honest, and simplistic. They are also very logical: 'Ms. D. jumped out of an airplane so something must have been wrong with the airplane!' That is the type of thinking we need amongst the adult society! Simple and logical!

A Day in the Life......

Today was a typical day in my music room. I saw each grade level K-5. We are working on traveling around the world with music. We have musically traveled to the Ukraine, Korea, Africa, Scotland, Caribbean Islands, and we are now heading to Russia. The children love it! We discuss history, geography, and culture of each country. We are incorporating classroom intruments after we learn to sing each song. Each grade level, of course, is learning a different song due to level of difficulty. Well, hopefully nothing crazy happens tomorrow....although you never know with children!

A Day in the Life of an Elementary Music Teacher.....

Music Education is a passion of mine. In this blog you can follow me through my everyday experiences as an Elementary Music Teacher. I teach K-5 General Music. I also have a Chorus (3rd, 4th, and 5th grade) and a Handbell Choir (4th and 5th grade). I got involved in music during the 4th grade. I want the students I teach to have the same amazing musical opportunities and experiences I had.
